Day center in Labrit hill.

Projects 3 - 2012
The proposal for the Day Center comes after a thorough study about the different possibilities offered by the complicated plot of the parking area of the slope of Labrit in Pamplona and its surroundings. Having ruled out the option of linking the project to the bullring, important in itself , and somehow connect the building with that height , wich would discredit the new gateway representing the recovered round, the proposal just focuses on considering the existence of the paths in the area composing the spacing .
This way, the volume that conforms the Day Center is created generating a facade to the slope and creates outdoor spaces to the front of the old part for the development of activities for the elderly.
So, the building itself is a true path and is regulated by two passageways under the cover of the whole project , one that allows a transition down the place and enters the pedestrian in the inner square, and another that allows the natural circulation to get off the San Agustín street arriving the new Labrit ride.
In fact, the appearance of the building suggests that it develops on one height, the groundfloor, resting on the hill keeping the same level along its entire length. However, taking advantage of the slope itself, a -1 floor is created, whose facade has direct access to the hill to locate there all stores and facilities to encourage direct garbage collection and machines ventilation. At the same time, taking advantage of the general structural approach it also raises a parking lot on the -2 floor to service the area and compensate all the losses of parking places by the implementation of the building.
Due to the different uses and the changing slope of the site is necessary to use different constructive solutions:
Day center for the elderly, in itself, is made as a horizontal, meandering piece that absorbs solar setbacks, creating a continuous glass base and steel slats that releases the maximum amount of area in its center. You could say in this regard that the corten steel or lacquered in black is the protagonist of the project.
Towards the exterior walls it appears as regular vertical slats while towards the square inside garden that services the elderly, semi-outdoor corridors with irregular slats provide privacy to their respective volumes while linking communications within the interior of the project.
