Exhibition
ARCHITECTURE WEEK 2015
The exhibition presents, on the basis of photographs and plans, the new building of the German School, located in the north of Madrid, and designed and built between 2012 and 2015 by the Berlin architecture studio Grüntuch Ernst. It replaces the most centrally located building that had been used until then and had become too small.
Inside the montage, two large-format photographs facing each other show the entrance courtyard of the school. In their spatial conjunction the images convey the idea of the real space experience of the German School.
On the outer walls of the installation and as a tour of the building, the entire project is shown in its various aspects, from the competition, through the project phase and the construction site, to the finished building.
School buildings are examples of the future and play a key role in transmitting architectural culture and sustainability. The return to traditional simplicity, while resorting to technical and innovative refinement, characterizes the entire project and realization of the German School of Madrid also in terms of construction and demographics.
